Barry Gibb turns country

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - If former Bee Gee Barry Gibb was looking for some inspiration for the country album he plans to record here, he couldn’t have picked a more hallowed piece of ground to put down stakes.

Gibb bought and is restoring the lakefront house belonging to the late Johnny and June Carter Cash.

“It’s going to be nice,” Gibb said Wednesday during a reception in his honor by the performance rights organization BMI. “We’d like to use it as our second home. I would like to come here and write songs. I am planning on making a country album. That is really who I am.”

Pimp my ride on X-Box

Can't get enough of these old school cars upgrade "Pimp my ride" style, X-Box has released the video game of the famous TV series complete with virtual X-Zibit to guide you along, 16 vehicles in all. Prior to pimping your car, your mission is to raise the cash to fund the project. PlayStation 2 version has been out since November '06 in the US, UK will have to wait till March 2007 (XBox and PS).

Dance Music Hall of Fame 2006? Not this year!

There will be no Dance Music Hall of Fame nominations, inductions or award ceremony this year, our reliable source told us.

No announcements were made but apparently, John Parker has confirmed. It looks like it wasn't profitable enough to keep it going. It's possible it could be reinstated in with a new board of directors, but not this year.

Legendary Fire island spot demolished

The Sandpiper/Pavilion, the Fire Island nightspot that had its heyday in the 70s has been demolished during the weekend of September 23rd 2006. It isn't known if another club will take its place. Former Sandpiper dj Barry Lederer: "The Sandpiper/Pavillion was a landmark (not officially though) of the great music played through these past 35 years by some of the best djs around however, I must admit that it had its day"

Disco clubing for kids

One major club to be hit by the fad is Cielo in New York City."Baby Loves Disco" is a dance party for kids and their parents can join, dancing to disco and club classics from the 70s and 80s. Snacks, balloons, diaper changing rooms, toys, games, costumes and stroller parking provided.

Melba Moore joins Usher in "Chicago" musical

Melba Moore - My heart belongs to you (2005), Pick me up, I'll dance, You stepped into my life (1979) - is now part of the December '06 US leg of the musical play as Matron 'Mama' Morton. No words on whether she'll continue the stint in 2007

Disco Stars at Mex fest

GQ and Evelyn King will close the Arizona Cinco de Mayo Festival in Phoenix. The Cinco de Mayo fest celebrates Mexico's victory over the French in the 1864 Battle of Puebla. Mariachis, latin bands, Mexican food, a children area and more topped with international stars, fun for the whole family.
